UNDP supports ESRF to inaugurate a Content Development Center (MAENDELEO STUDIO)
The Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) with support from the Government of Tanzania - Ministry of Finance and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on Tuesday February 11, 2014 inaugurated a Content Development Center which is known as MAENDELEO STUDIO. The studio will generate and disseminate contents for rural communities. The content in form of radio and TV programmes will be disseminated to rural people through community radios and TVs. In the districts where Access to Information (ATI) and Millennium Acceleration Framework (MAF) projects are implemented the dissemination will also be through the established Ward Resource Centres.
Maendeleo studio is the result of four studies which ESRF conducted in three Districts of Bunda, Bukoba rural and Uyui. The studies observed the acute shortage of developmental contents in rural areas. The ward resource centres which were earlier established to address the problem lacked important information as well. To overcome the shortage, the idea of establishing and maintaining the studio emerged.
The contents for the programmes will be research-based-evidence which has positive impacts to the rural communities and the nation at large. Contents will be accrued from, research institutions, Agricultural research centres, Government officers, Universities and Development partners to mention a few. The studio will also invite reputable individual researchers and senior citizens to share their experiences.
