A Case of Evidence for Development Results: UNDP TanzaniaMar 18, 2015
Early 2014 Tanzania was selected for an Assessment of Development Results (ADR) which is an independent evaluation of UNDP’s contribution to development results at the country level. The evaluation was carried out by UNDP’s Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) with the intention to specifically assessing how well UNDP is contributing to national and development results in Tanzania over the past two programme cycles (2007-2010 and 2011-2014); and also to provide evaluative evidence useful for the formulation of the next UNDP common country programme document (CCPD) within the context of the UNDAP.
Following up from the report preparation, a high-level Stakeholder Conference was held on the 16th of March 2015 at the Dar es Salaam Serena Hotel. The objective of this Conference was to discuss and validate the report’s findings, conclusions and recommendations. It was jointly organized by the Ministry of Finance and UNDP’s Independent Evaluation Office with the support from the UNDP Country Office. The event was graced by the Minister of Finance, Hon. Saada Mkuya Salum (MP) who was also the guest of honour, development partners, government ministries and bodies, UN Agencies and UNDP beneficiaries.
“UNDP has been a valuable and trusted partner to the Government of Tanzania, we look forward to this continued partnership as we work towards achieving Tanzania’s development agenda” Hon. Saada Makuya Salum (MP), Minister of Finance.
The conference provided a unique opportunity to engage UNDP’s key national stakeholders in the discussions on the achievements, lessons learned, challenges and most importantly agree on a workable way forward which was most useful as the Country Office is in the preparation process for the design and the implementation of next UNDAP.
“We recognise and appreciate the valuable support and partnership that has been extended to UNDP from the Government of Tanzania, Development Partners, UN Agencies and the Civil Society -- without your support these results would have impossible to achieve. UNDP is committed still to work with you to achieve the development results of the United Republic of Tanzania” Mr. Alvaro Rodriguez, UNDP Resident Representative.
