Outputs, Targets,Out Comes, Objectives

The program is designed to support four broad strategic areas of democracy in Tanzania, namely:

  • Facilitation and implementation of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM)
  • The Elections Management Bodies and the Electoral Process
  • Civic Education
  • Good and Accountable Governance (Parliament and Political Parties)

The program has the following expected outcomes and targets:

  • Enhanced capacity of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Secretariat to coordinate the APRM process and implementation of the APRM Action Plan
  • Strengthened capacity of Parliament and the Zanzibar House of Representatives for policy research and budget oversight
  • Support for advocacy for review and reform of legal provisions constraining democratic practices, including those constraining free and fair elections
  • Strengthened electoral process through capacity development support to NEC/ZEC, improved inter-party dialogue, and effective civic/voter education
