Mr. Alain Noudéhou

 

New Country Director on board at UNDP

June 11th, 2007: A new Country Director has recently joined the UNDP Country Management Team for the implementation of UNDP Programme in Tanzania. The new UNDP Programme (2007 – 2010) aims to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and ultimately to the goals of MKUKUTA and MKUZA.

Mr. Alain Noudéhou, a national from Benin, takes on the new post of “Country Director,” created as part of the ongoing One UN reform for which Tanzania is one of only eight pilot countries in the world.

Mr. Noudéhou brings with him fifteen years of experience in international development to UNDP Tanzania having undertaken similar roles previously as Program Director and Deputy Resident Representative for UNDP Rwanda (2004 – 2006) and Deputy Resident Representative, Gabon (2002 - 2004). His 15 years in international development includes experience in partnership development and resource mobilization; budgeting and financial management as well as coordinating development activities with bilateral and multilateral donors, governments and NGOs.

Mr. Noudéhou was part of the senior management team in UNDP Rwanda whose contributions resulted in an outstanding program delivery for that country office, ranking it among the top 15 UNDP offices in the world.

He has also previously served as Deputy Director, Office of Program Initiatives, USA (2000 - 2002) at CHF International Inc., a non-profit international development organization helping low- and moderate-income families around the world build stronger communities. Prior to that Mr. Noudehou was the Country Director of CHF, South Africa (1996 - 2000) responsible for start-up activities for CHF operations in South Africa and overall design and implementation of CHF’s local economic development programs among other tasks.

Mr. Noudéhou started his career as a development officer in Zimbabwe in 1991, and holds both a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Management (Carnegie Mellon University, USA) and a Bachelors Degree in Architectural Design (Tsinghua University, P R of China).

Mr. Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, UN Resident Coordinator commented, “To participate and succeed in today’s changing environment, UNDP must be able to operate at the pinnacle of management and innovation. As a result of Mr. Noudéhou’s experiences, he will bring a unique perspective to the complexities and dynamism in today’s development context for the benefit of UNDP and its counterparts and the nation as a whole. Ultimately, his contributions will result in a programmatic experience that will assist UNDP to respond rigorously, but at the same time ensuring that we deliver our promises to the people of Tanzania. We are pleased to have Mr. Noudéhou as a member of the UNDP Country Management Team.”
