Capacity for External Resources and Development Management 

The programme has three main objectives namely;

  • To strengthen national capacity in Aid Coordination and External Resources Management to support realization of MKUKUTA/MKUZA goals
  • To strengthen capacity of the President’s Economic Policy Advisory Unit so as to ensure increased adoption of equitable pro-poor and gender-sensitive economic policies and programmes
  • To enhance coordination capabilities of the government business functions in PMO and Coordination of Union matters in VPO

The programme has the following expected outcomes/key results;

  • Enhanced national capacity to coordinate, manage and monitor aid harmonization and alignment, through the Joint Assistance Strategy (JAST)
  • Strengthened capacity of Policy and Planning and External Finance Departments of MDAs in external resources management and reporting on external resources
  • Improved capacity to design and implement national strategies for pro-poor growth and poverty reduction
  • Informed research, analysis and advocacy on macroeconomic policies/ “fiscal space” required for scaling up investment to achieve National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (MKUKUTA) goals and targets
  • Informed research, analysis and advocacy on macroeconomic policies/ “fiscal space” required for scaling up investment to achieve National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (MKUKUTA) goals and targets
  • Strengthened Government capacity to communicate its policies, strategies, plans, achievements, and challenges the public
