Inclusive democratic

Transparency. Efficency. Participation.

Since the mid-1990s, when Tanzania transitioned to a multi-party system, democratic governance has become a government priority and today, Tanzania ranks higher than half of the African Nations on overall governance. However, challenges remain on further strengthening the government accountability institutions - specifically on civic participation and human rights.

UNDP works with the Government of Tanzania to ensure effective, transparent, accountable and inclusive governance, in line with the objectives set out in the Tanzania Development Vision 2025. We work with ministries, parliament, civil society and other partners to make sure that institutions at all levels have clearer roles and responsibilities, improve budgeting and planning and can deliver a greater range and quality of services to communities across the country.
